About Fair Lawn
Fair Lawn, New Jersey is located in Bergen County and has a rich history stretching back before the 1700’s. It was originally settled by the Lenni-Lenapi Native American tribe and then the Dutch. The oldest historical site in Bergen County is located in Fair Lawn. The Garretson Forge and Farm was a farm owned by the Garretson family since 1719. The Garretson’s built a house on the farm in 1720 which housed six generations of the Garretson family for over one hundred years. There are many other historical sites within Fair Lawn that are enriched with the history of the township and it’s early settlers.
Major roadways such as Routes 4, 21, 80, 280 and the Garden State Parkway are easily accessible for Fair Lawn residents. Also, Fair Lawn is roughly ten miles away from the George Washington Bridge. Notable residents of Fair Lawn include Steve Rothman, congressman representing New Jersey’s 9th congressional district and Nicholas Felice, who served in the New Jersey General Assembly and was mayor of Fair Lawn.
